Below you'll find some information about using QZAP, especially the new archive gallery.
1) QZAP is FREE! No need to register, every visitor has access to all the zines. If you would like to register, you may. Registered users will be able to add links, comment on zines, and will get occasional updates about the state of the project.
2) To browse the archive click on "Zine Archive" on the left, then on "Zine Archive Gallery" to be taken to the gallery.
3) The Zine Archive Gallery will load in the center section of the site. The albums are organized alphabetically.
4) Click on one of the zine covers to enter the archive section that you want.
5) From there you can browse by title. When you find a zine that you're interested in, click on the thumbnail. The cover will then be magnified.
6) At the bottom of the enlarged cover there is a link that says "Download Document in Original Format" Click on that to download the whole zine as a PDF.
7) An alternative to browsing is to use the "search" box at the upper right. Search will include the whole site. For more detailed info on QZAP's search function please see the Search QZAP page. |

Search QZAP
In this version of QZAP we've greatly improved the search function. You can now search by keyword(s), city, year, and language.
Examples: Keyword - try typing "genderfuck" into the search box. The hits returned should include Rebel Fux and Gender Fuck Me
Language - try typing "french" or "spanish" into the search box. Currently QZAP has zines in: English French Spanish Catalan Arabic Hebrew
City - Using cities as a search term can be useful if you think that you might know where something came from. For instance, if you were in San Francisco and used that to find zines from there, you might come up with Queer Zine Explosion, Homocore, and Barbra's Psychic Anus, to name a couple.
Year - a search on years will show the documents where we've been able to identify the year. Our collection runs from 1978 through the present. There are probably lots of holes in the early 1980's, but we pick up steam from about 1988 on. |
