It looks like this month is shaping up to be pretty busy for QZAP. Last weekend we had a meeting with the good folks at Interference Archive to talk about combining forces and sharing knowledge for creating digital archives. They’re doing amazing work, and we’re happy to be collaberating with them!On April 20th Chris and Milo will be at Beloit College talking about queer zines and queer zine history. Afterwords we’ll be hosting a zine making workshop in conjunction with Alliance House and the Women’s & Gender Studies program.
On April 27th and 28th we’ll be at two zine fests! Alana will be tabling for QZAP and with other zine projects at the Pioneer Valley Zine Fest in Amherst, MA. At the same time Milo will be at the Midwest Zine Fest in Urbana, IL speaking about queer zines and archiving. If you’re heading to Amherst, be sure to check out the reading on Friday night. Amber Dearest, zinestress of Culture Slut will be reading along with other great folks.
ALSO on April 27th, it’s the world premiere of She Said Boom: The Story of Fifth Column in Toronto. The film is a documentary about queercore band Fifth Column among whose members included queer zine pioneer GB Jones, who along with Bruce La Bruce created the legendary zine J.Ds in the mid to late 1980s. It will be screening at the Hot Docs festival and looks like it'll be amazing!
